Watch whisper-quiet hydrogen-fueled buses whiz along the new Olympic highway from Vancouver to Whistler, British Columbia, the Canadian west coast sites hosting the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
The fuel-cell powered public transit vehicles, which do not emit greenhouse gases or atmospheric pollutants, are not yet cost competitive with conventional diesel buses, but are helping to preserve the visibility of some of the world's most stunning scenery.
What is next for the "Green Olympics"? Solar-powered ski lifts would be nice, but might need a back-up power supply on foggy days.
That might be another application for fuel-cell technology.
Thanks so much for this video...it's a great introduction to the public about how simple, yet effective, this technology is...I will be sure to repost to many blogs!
