Out of the sand and into the surf: Christopher Pike gets wet at Wadi Adventure in Al Ain

October 3, 2012

In the heart of the UAE, at the base of Jebel Hafeet, engineers have not only brought water to the desert, they’re also putting it to good use.

Wadi Adventure, a vast outdoor waterpark, is creating waves across the Emirates and is improbably attracting the attention of the surfing world.

The world-class whitewater and surf attraction has already featured in respected sports magazines and hosted professional photo and video shoots.

Elite whitewater kayakers from the Slovakian Olympic team have chosen Al Ain as their winter training facility, and they are to train Emiratis in their sport in the hope a team can represent the UAE at the 2016 summer Olympics in Rio, Brazil.
