It's fight week and I am counting the days to UFC 112 on
Yas Island, Abu Dhabi and my UFC Lightweight Title defence against
No.1 contender Frankie 'The Answer' Edgar's.

I got into Abu Dhabi late last week and have been staying at a
friend's place. Coming so far from Hawaii, and having done this trip
in January, I wanted to get here early to make sure I got used to the
time zone and climate. It is hot where I am from, too, but not as
dry and I wanted to get used to that, especially fighting outdoors.
I train outside every day back home, but with the humidity there you
get sweaty very fast. Over here it is a little dryer and you need
to drink more water during training.

We actually got some good training partners in this week, some really good fighters from Honolulu. They aren't UFC fighters so you may not know them but there are really good guys in the camp now and, honestly, I feel like I'm ready to go, ready to fight. I'm just going to do a couple more sparring sessions now before we fly - four or five, five minute rounds, of MMA.

Mentally I'm in no rush to get in the ring with Edgar, I'm just enjoying the journey. I know it's going to come.

Well, one month out from the fight and training is going really well. I'm training hard, just staying on it to get better and keep improving. I feel great, I'm getting into really good shape. I'm trying not to peak too early but I'm ready to fight now.

I've been working on my conditioning and my boxing and doing a lot of strengthening and conditioning exercises to gain more muscular endurance. Then of course there's the cardiovascular work, particularly sprinting.
