Hat tip to John Madden, a senior planning manager at Urban Planning Council (UPC), for sending along this helpful graphic of some of the techniques that are suggested to reduce energy and water consumption/waste at villas. The actual Estidama handbook is some 560 pages long. The question is: Now that UPC has gone to this length to create a green building code for a desert climate with little fresh water resources, can it be used as a base for other countries (and emirates) to make buildings more sustainable.

I am from Kuwait and I am very happy for the Emirate people. We in Kuwait should come to Abu Dhabi and learn your secrets.

I think the Love that your rulers have for the people will bring all the success and good ideas.

Allah with you
