Alcatel-Lucent, one of the world's largest telecommunication equipment makers, announced today that Etisalat has the least call drops in the Middle East, according to independent research.

Research showed that Etisalat has the lowest call disconnect ratio of less than 0.36 per cent, or about three calls dropped for every 1000 made, and the lowest call blocked ratio of 0.02 per cent, or less than one out of every 1000 calls fails to connect among Middle Eastern mobile operators. The rates are pretty commendable when compared to global averages for call drop rate and call failure rate, of one per cent and two per cent respectively.

Alcatel-Lucent also awarded Etisalat's Egyptian mobile operating arm with a "four-star" customer innovation programs on Tuesday. According to the press release, the company was cited for creating:

one of the world's most advanced multimedia contact centers, combining video, voice, and SMS, with voice recognition, avatars, and other advanced self service choices. The video call centre and IVR technology allows this fast growing telco provider to enable 7 million Egyptian customers to interact with agents live via their video enabled mobile phones and the 3G network 24 hours a day.
